Know How IELTS Scoring Works?

How does the IELTS scoring work?

The scoring is divided among 9 levels which they call ‘Bands’! Now the first 5 bands ensure that you can read English and understand it properly. So, if you can read this article and understand what is written here, you can easily complete up to band 5.

● Band 6: Now in Band 6 is for those people that can comfortably write about the familiar topics and face problems when an unfamiliar or uncommon topic is given. This level is for the ‘competent’ user of the English language. ● Band 7: If you are at Band 7, then you are a good user of English. Though you make mistakes, they are not grave mistakes and can be handled easily. The person makes occasional mistakes and not too many mistakes to be considered.

● Band 8: At Band 8, you are a ‘very good user’ of English. In the case of familiar situations, you are very profound. In the case of unfamiliar situations and topics, you make only a few mistakes. You can understand the situation properly and you can write about the situation without making too many mistakes! You may face problems in living and working in an English speaking or English environment country. But you face only a few problems in that. That means, with some more effort, you can become a pro!

● Band 9: At Band 9, you are an expert. You have fluency and full command over the language. You can accurately speak English, write in English, understand situations, and react to situations like a pro. Your English speaking ability is also considered to be the best in this band. You will face no problem in an English-speaking environment and you can handle the hurdles like a pro!

All the details are provided on the IELTS website. You will be checked separately in four segments, i.e. Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening. Now all the scores will be added together and then divided by 4 to get the final marks. The Final mark will show your Band and up on that Band scoring your IELTS score will be finalized!
